SUMMARY 

Serves as the voice of the customer and the IT business, and works closely with the product team to define and prioritize the team backlog. Ensures that the needs of the team and stakeholders are appropriately addressed in the product roadmap and backlog. Empowers individuals and teams to work together effortlessly by delivering the highest quality products to the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Encourages communication and collaboration between team members. Acts as a representative for the client/stakeholders.

 

  • Empowers team members to take ownership of their work. Makes suggestions to the product team when project redirection may be needed.

 

  • Reviews ideas/demands from the business. Proactively suggests to the business to submit idea/project requests.

 

  • Coordinates scoping with the product owner team as needed. Scopes out demands and meets regularly with stakeholders.

 

  • Ensures a steady stream of Epics and Features is available to teams for prioritized demands. Defines the product vision for the product owner team.

 

  • Works closely with vendors to understand and provide feedback/input to their product roadmaps from the product teams and the product owner team.

 

  • Communicates the product roadmap and strategy to the product team and the stakeholders. Defines clear high-level acceptance criteria for Epics, Features, and any other items placed in the backlog providing for 3-6 months of future planning.

 

  • Participates in and is on hand during Program Increment (PI) planning to provide clarity to the current roadmap if needed. Meets with the product owner team to refine the backlog for the Agile Release Train (ART) prior to PI planning.

 

  • Defines the backlog items for the product team. Writes stories and collaborates with the product owner team when new operational requests come in during a given PI.

 

  • Determines the order of priority for the backlog by assessing stakeholder interactions, product team insights, and unanticipated external demands.

 

  • Refines the backlog regularly, ensuring that it is up to date. Monitors the progress of the backlog to ensure that the PI goals are achieved.

 

  • Encourages teams to treat everyone with respect and understanding. Encourages teams to celebrate failure by speaking openly and focusing on lessons learned.

 

  • Supports other team members to become better servant leaders. Shares strategy, methodology, templates, and best practices with the product owner team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Five (5) or more years of experience in Information Technology

Five (5) or more years of experience in various roles including engineering, project/program management, product management, and product ownership.

 

SKILLS

Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Advance knowledge of project management principles, practices, and procedures

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Advanced analytical skills

Ability to deliver presentations to senior leadership

Ability to develop proposals

Ability to be self-motivated and directed

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and to foster teamwork

Ability to support clients in North American time zones
