The Finance Assistant (Temporary) is primarily responsible for finance/accounting transactions and administrative support within the Finance Department.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Assist with financial data entry and general bookkeeping.
  • Manage data, records, and reports by checking for errors and verifying accuracy of information.
  • Prepare receipts, vouchers, invoices, etc. for entry into data sheets.
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Update and maintain financial records as directed.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for data entry, including budgets, accounting information, etc.
  • Digitize (scan and save) records.
  • Assist with audits as necessary.
  • Adhere to current accounting/finance laws and regulations and to company policies and procedures, including data privacy.

 

Qualifications

 

Required 

  • Associate’s degree in business or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or High School Diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Good computer proficiency (MS Office)
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and organized, good problem-solving skills, and a very proactive approach.
  • Good communication (verbal and written,) interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional administrative duties, finance/accounting transactions, and customer service.
  • AP experience.
  • Knowledge of “local” GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Experience performing month-end closes.
  • Experience in the steel, manufacturing, or services industries.
