Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic kitchen tasks, such as preparation of hot and cold meals (halal and/or non-halal).
- Prepare food by washing, chopping, and dicing vegetables using a knife or peeling machine.
- Assist with making sauces or salads, and marinating foods.
- Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations.
- Assist senior team members in the running of a busy kitchen.
- Store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards and follow the guidance of the executive or sous chef.
- Handle deliveries and assist with stock rotation.
- Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations as stated in the food safety management system handbook.
- Report problems related to food safety to management and the hygiene & food safety team.
- Always keep the immediate work area clean and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Proactive and self-organized.
- Ability to manage through a substantial workload.
- Capability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks within the given time to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to accurately monitor wastage.
- Food and beverage/kitchen experience preferred.
- Flexibility (different shifts - night, weekends, holidays)
