Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce daily Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to HACCP, food safety, hygiene protocols, and quality assurance standards.
- Conduct daily facility audits to assess compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, hygiene, and audit readiness standards; document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure the facility meets or exceeds daily audit standards in alignment with both regulatory requirements and company expectations.
- Investigate HACCP non-compliance issues, perform root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys), and implement timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA); complete quality hold procedures when applicable.
- Oversee food safety and hygiene training programs, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and annual compliance training.
- Lead the QA team in executing GMP audits and daily documentation reviews for Control Points (CP) and Critical Control Points (CCP), ensuring all food products meet quality standards.
- Conduct daily data analysis to identify trends, monitor microbiological testing results, and take corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Utilize expertise in DO & CO’s IMAP micro testing; ensure adherence to all daily and monthly sampling protocols.
- Collaborate with Quality and Operations Management to manage the Complaint Management System and provide timely responses to customer feedback.
- Provide coaching and leadership to the Hygiene & QA team, including Technicians, Specialists, and Nutritionists; mentor team members in QA methodologies and industry best practices.
- Schedule and oversee QA and hygiene staff to ensure adequate shift coverage and operational efficiency.
- Assist Quality Management in annual reviews of the Food Safety System, prerequisite programs, and SOPs, and support training for new staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all department teams and management.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, preferably in a managerial or lead capacity within a food manufacturing or production environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Must possess PCQI and HACCP certifications.
- Familiarity with food production processing or large-scale catering production and methodologies.
- Extensive knowledge of HACCP, SQF, BRC, and ISO food safety management systems, with practical application in large-scale food production.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proficient in data analysis to assess product performance and quality metrics.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and strong interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Flexibility to work various shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on business needs.
