Job Objective

The Recreation Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing therapeutic activities to enhance the quality of life of the residents and meet their social, creative, physical, spiritual and emotional needs.

Job Standards

1. Graduate of an accredited college with a degree in Art, Music, Recreational Therapy, or related field. 
2. Must understand the social, psychological and recreational needs of the elderly, especially those with Alzheimer’s/Dementia as well as other types of disabled residents in St. Camillus Assisted Living, and must be able to plan and organize activities geared to meet those needs. 
3. Able to work cooperatively with others as part of interdisciplinary care team.
4. Able to safely perform essential functions of the job without harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodation. 
5. Valid WI driver’s license
6. Show evidence of interest in continuous professional growth.
7. Ability to promote socialization and cooperative relationships with residents, family, staff and community.
8. Ability to work independently.
9. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
10. Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and oral communication skills, as well as ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a variety of people.
