Mays Chemical, a Ravago Company, is currently recruiting for a Traffic Coordinator based out of the Indianapolis facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for: Scheduling of internal and external shipments, notifying the internal customers of ETA dates. Determines routing and method of transportation by consulting with onsite 3PL/TMS partners of tariff manuals and railroad/airline/trucking schedules. Assist in performing Export/Import duties as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates orders (Collect/Third Party Collect) with the Customer Service, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving and the Traffic Team to plan for timely deliveries for internal and external customers.
- Backup Support to Traffic/Fleet Mgr.
- Process Collect and 3rd party Collect shipments for the 71st Street and Greenwood facilities.
- Ensure warehouse team has all necessary documentation to complete orders.
- Support in coordinating and scheduling plan Bulk Tanker freight for internal and external customers.
- Provide timely updates to internal customers when requested or needed.
- Communicate with corresponding departments on order changes, shipment delays, claims, etc.
- Perform back up duties to Import/Export (Collect & Third Party Collect) as needed.
- Stay up to date on any new regulatory changes and notify manager of any changes.
- Cross train with onsite 3PL on TMS system for potential emergency situations.
- Must have basic knowledge of existing and emerging legislation concerning transportation.
- Ability to negotiate price and service issues for all modes of transportation carrier contracts and to determine the appropriate transportation mode to be utilized is essential.
- Ability to learn and schedule bulk freight transportation.
- Experience working with carriers in scheduling freight both inbound and outbound.
- Ability to learn Transportation Management Systems and input information correctly and timely.
- Practices the principles of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement under the GFSI guidelines.
- Any other duties/responsibilities as defined by management.
- Successfully assigns/prioritizes workload within tight deadline constraints and works effectively under pressure.
- Ensures trucks scheduled on time at best/most cost-effective price/meeting customer
- specifications.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have the following certifications IATA (Air, recurrent training required every 24 months), IMDG (Ocean, recurrent training required every' three years) & 49 CFR (Ground Transportation, recurrent training is required every three years).
- 2 + years' experience in a logistics/traffic environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications-Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills as well as ability to exercise diplomacy/build rapport with customers/carriers.
- Works effectively with all levels of management, internal customers, suppliers, carriers, and company personnel.
- Possesses strong analytical and problem identification/resolution skills.
- Confidential; understanding business implications of decisions.
- Demonstrate initiative and diligent work ethics.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, self-directed with attention to detail/accuracy.
