The Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for analyzing network, facility, and equipment capacity to ensure OnTrac’s infrastructure can support current and future volume demand. This role models growth scenarios, evaluates system constraints, and partners with cross-functional teams to develop capacity plans that balance cost, service, and scalability.

This is a key role in shaping strategic decisions on facility throughput, equipment sizing, expansion timelines, and seasonal readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of parcel operations and facility performance metrics.

Employment Logistics: 

 

Location:  Remote

Pay:  $140,000K

Shift:   Monday to Friday from 8:00am – 5:00 pm

The Must-Haves: 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 4-8 years experience in related field
  • Occasional Travel as needed <10%
  • It is the responsibility of every position to understand and adhere to the security guidelines outlined in OnTrac’s Acceptable Use policy and to conduct their activities accordingly.

 

Your Mission in Motion: 

 

  • Analyze facility and network capacity across sortation lines, staging areas, docks, and material handling systems.
  • Develop and maintain forecasting models that project volume and resource needs by site, region, and time period.
  • Identify short- and long-term capacity risks and propose solutions such as facility reconfiguration, new automation, or shift optimization.
  • Translate operational data (package volume, sort rates, cycle times, dwell times) into actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Partner with Operations, Real Estate, and Engineering to align growth plans and recommend expansion strategies.
  • Support peak season readiness by stress-testing facilities and defining trigger points for contingency plans.
  • Participate in facility design reviews to ensure capacity aligns with long-term business goals.
  • Create and maintain documentation on facility capacity standards, assumptions, and throughput limits.
