We are seeking a full-time Facilities HVAC Technician responsible for preventative maintenance, minor repairs and equipment health for all components in HVAC system. 

 


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspecting and testing HVAC systems and components to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently keeping the visitor experience as the top priority
  • Maintain and manage all preventative maintenance to include but not limited to the following equipment: air filter replacements, roof top units [RTU], air handler units [AHU], chillers, full condensing boilers, hot water heaters, exhaust fans, mini-splits, commercial kitchen refrigeration
  • Monitoring of building automation system [BAS] which includes and is not limited to sequence of operation adjustments, humidification controls and control strategies
  • Handling refrigerant, including recharging systems, checking for leaks, and ensuring the refrigerant cycle is functioning correctly. 
  • Communicating with 3rd party vendors and internal constituents about system issues, explaining maintenance procedures, and answering questions. 
  • Maintaining extensive and accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and repair details. Perform all job duties as per established Space Center Houston safety guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures when working with HVAC systems. 
  • Performing energy-efficiency upgrades and recommending measures to improve system performance. 
  • Monitor and directly engage with 3rd party vendor with warranty services and repair
  • Working knowledge and monitoring of HVAC operating budget
  • Complete work orders and other HVAC duties assigned by the Facilities Lead, Facilities Manager or Vice President of Facilities Operations

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in HVAC maintenance.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
  • EPA Certified.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Must be service oriented with strong customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and successfully pass a drug/alcohol MVR and background check.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and weekends.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and maneuver through crowded areas.
  • Ability to climb ladder system, stairways and negotiate close proximity spaces with a minimum of approximately 18 inches clearance.
  • Must be in physical condition satisfactory to allow climbing ladders and lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to kneel, bend and work at floor level as needed.
