Maintenance Technician I
2nd shift (4:15 pm to 2:45 am) Monday to Thursday and some Friday OT as needed.
Position Description:
Perform routine preventative maintenance, install, troubleshoot, and repair on manufacturing equipment and facilities. Assists in executing test protocols. Solves problems of moderate scope and complexity. Demonstrate Viant Value.
Position Authority:
Under close supervision, performs entry-level duties as assigned in the installation, modification, design, maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery used in the operation of medical device manufacturing, general facilities and performs related duties as assigned. Makes recommendations and reviews with supervisor OR team members.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow all GMP/SOP’s as defined by policies/practices/procedures to insure FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards are met.
- Respond to production line and facilities calls in a professional, safe, and timely manner.
- Maintain and sustain the daily operation of production machines and fixtures with goal of zero downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on manufacturing equipment.
- Test devices and machines to determine performance levels. Document results of testing and/or trouble shooting.
- Identify and improve safety issues within the production areas.
- Dismantle, repair or replace devices using hand tools and power tools.
- Consult, collaborate and follow up with other maintenance techs, engineers and manufacturing employees to identify and resolve all maintenance issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate and collaborate with external vendors. Explains technical information.
- Maintain 6S environment in work area(s) and maintenance shop.
- Follow required lock out/tag out procedures and all other safety requirements.
- Prepare and set up equipment when required.
- Responsible for ensuring that all preventative maintenance and calibration work orders are completed on time, keeping 100% on-time metric.
- Applies basic technical skills, standard methodologies or processes to perform routine activities.
- Uses standard operating procedures to solve routine problems.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge and Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. 1 to 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance or similar job role.
Job Experience:
- Working knowledge of common shop tools, meters and test equipment.
- Hands-on technical experience working in maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to operate all manual machines, perform PMs, and basic troubleshooting and repair.
- Able to support tool change with experienced technician for complex systems.
- Able to change basic system tools.
- Basic computer skills. Beginner expertise - MS Excel, Office, Outlook. Able to operate maintenance database OR similar platform – basic operations, and navigation.
- Basic electrical trouble shooting and pneumatic circuit trouble shooting.
- Basic electronics knowledge and skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including dimensions, tolerances and schematics.
- Experience working in a production facility or cleanroom a plus.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to get underneath or mount equipment ranging from floor level or below, elevated heights, and in confined spaces to perform repairs and inspections.
- Ability to lift, tighten (“torque”) equipment. Frequent amounts of finger dexterity used.
- Ability to safely and efficiently make machine repairs in a highly efficient, high pressure, clean room manufacturing environment.
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting up to 75 lb. long periods of standing, bending, twisting, or turning.
- Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including Protective eye wear, ear plugs, hair net or protective gowning (lab coat, hood, shoe covers)
