Finisher / Grinder
SUMMARY
The Finisher / Grinder performs a wide variety of prescribed duties for final operations of manufactured products for finished goods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work from work orders, diagrams, written and verbal instructions to clean, stamp, deburr, grind, chamfer, etch or stamp and move products to designated locations.
- Evaluate products for needed finishing work to be done and consult with department leader and/or supervisor prior to beginning work to products.
- Grind, chamfer and deburr parts for final finishes, dimensions and appearances. Operate fork truck to move supplies and materials to other areas.
- Move, lift, and carry material and parts to work areas, bins and skids.
- Maintain clear and orderly work areas for movement of materials and parts. Setup and operate machines and equipment as directed.
- Refer questionable conditions to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
- Operate stamping and finishing equipment such as, but not limited to, vibro- etcher, stampers, drill press, grinders, deburrers, bench devices, wash machine, fork lift truck and use hand tools and basic measuring instruments.
- Responsible to prepare and submit/record production records, accurate piece counts, reports and forms required by company procedures.
- Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
- Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
- Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
- Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or over three months up to and including 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
