Position Summary:
The Performance Science Analyst is the architect behind IMG Academy’s Athlete Management System (AMS). Working primarily with Teamworks Hub & AMS, you will translate sport‑specific requirements into actionable workflows, dashboards, and insights that empower coaches, performance scientists, and student‑athletes. This role is ideal for a data‑driven professional who thrives on relationship building, project management, and hands‑on system development.
You’ll collaborate with applied performance scientists in the field while you design, build, and refine the data infrastructure that fuels world‑class athletic development.
Position Responsibilities:
- AMS Architecture & Build: Serve as a primary builder and super‑user of Teamworks AMS, formerly known as Smartabase, ensuring system stability and scalability.
- Workflow Translation: Convert coaching and performance‑science requirements into intuitive data fields, forms, and automated workflows that streamline daily operations.
- Stakeholder Training & Support: Act as the liaison between performance scientists, sport coaches, and APD staff; provide training and ongoing support on AMS functionality and data standards.
- Project Management: Lead projects from scope to delivery—owning timelines, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices; recommend and implement enhancements that keep IMG Academy at the forefront of youth athletic development.
- Data Pipeline & Reporting: Develop and maintain robust data pipelines in R or Python; build interactive dashboards, automated reports, and real‑time alerts that drive decision‑making.
- Flexible Schedule: Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays to align with program needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Education: Bachelor’s and or Master’s degree or higher in data science, sport/performance science, computer science, or a related discipline.
- AMS Expertise: Minimum 2-3 years of hands‑on experience building and administering Teamworks AMS (formerly known as Smartabase)
- Programming: Proficiency in R for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
- Performance Science Knowledge: Working understanding of performance science concepts (load management, maturation status, skill acquisition, biomechanics) and how they translate into data structures.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and interpersonal skills with a track record of building strong relationships across departments.
- Some awareness and understanding of cloud-based environments (AWS preferred)
- Cloud Data Warehousing: Experience with Amazon Redshift or other cloud data warehouses.
- Agile Toolset: Familiarity with Jira & Confluence for project management and documentation.
- Additional Programming & BI: Experience with Python (pandas, FastAPI) and BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- SQL & ETL Automation: Proficiency in SQL and experience building automated ETL pipelines.
- Youth Athlete Experience: Prior work with youth or adolescent athletes in a performance or coaching capacity.
