Product Manager
Positions Summary
The Product Manager plays a pivotal role in driving NCSA’s product vision by leading the identification, scoping, and execution of feature development and maintenance initiatives. Acting as a Product Owner on one or more Agile teams, this role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deeply understand company objectives and translate them into actionable outcomes. With responsibility for prioritizing and managing a product backlog, the Product Development Manager balances long-term projects, platform maintenance, and dynamic business needs. This position requires cross-functional collaboration across key domains including Infrastructure, Identity & Authentication, Athlete and Ecosystem Data Management, Front-End Platforms, and both Athlete and Coach Products. Success in this role demands a unique combination of business acumen, user-centered design thinking, technical fluency, and a strong results-driven mindset. This remote role offers both individual contributor and leadership growth paths, and reports to the Senior Director of Product Management.
Position Responsibilities
- Act as Product Owner on one or more Agile development teams, owning the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from ideation through release, user adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, using agile, iterative methods to define user stories, acceptance criteria, and success metrics that align with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Support to define strategic initiatives, translate hypotheses into epics and user stories, and craft user-focused product experiences.
- Conduct user acceptance testing and champion high-quality feature delivery by leveraging research, feedback, and testing to ensure functionality, usability, and scalability.
- Use data-driven insights and hypothesis-driven experimentation to guide product decisions, drive extensible solutions, and uncover new revenue and user growth opportunities.
- Serve as a cross-functional leader and product evangelist—promoting best practices, mentoring peers, driving adoption of new tools or features, and fostering transparency and continuous learning across teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 3+ years as a Product Owner leading cross-functional, sprint-driven teams in start-up and growth-stage environments, partnering with business stakeholders and engineering to translate strategic goals into actionable roadmaps and deliverables.
- Expert in descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics—proficient at crafting and presenting complex analyses (even counter-intuitive insights) to non-technical and senior leadership, using SQL, log analysis, and data storytelling techniques.
- A true team enabler who fosters a healthy, collaborative culture, applies entrepreneurial experimentation, and relentlessly pursues continuous, empathetic improvement.
- Deep understanding of sustainable SDLC and engineering methodologies, with strong skills in requirement research, business-process definition, documentation, and translating user/employee behavior into product features.
- Familiarity with SQL, HTTP, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, API development, and cloud concepts (AWS/Azure), enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams.
- Thrives in fast-paced organizations—highly self-motivated, autonomous, and resourceful—adept at juggling multiple priorities with proactive updates and stakeholder alignment.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate, facilitate, and drive consensus across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Operations teams.
