Director of Social and Visual Content
Position Overview:
IMG Academy is seeking a dynamic, strategic, creative, and metrics-driven Director of Social and Visual Content to lead and evolve the brand’s social presence across all platforms. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a unified social media and visual content strategy across IMG Academy, IMG Academy+, and NCSA College Recruiting, ensuring each business line engages its audience, drives conversions, and reflects the high-performance standards of the brand. This leader will manage a team of social strategists, content creators, videographers and producers to craft powerful storytelling, build brand equity, and grow a loyal digital community of student-athletes, families, coaches, and partners.
Position Responsibilities:
- Brand positioning: Be the “tip of the spear” for IMG Academy’s brand perception, positioning and awareness
- Unified Social Strategy: Develop and execute a cohesive social media strategy across IMG Academy, IMG Academy+, and NCSA that aligns with broader brand and business goals.
- Channel Oversight: Manage the team’s day-to-day execution and content planning for all social channels, tailored to each brand’s unique audience and goals (e.g., enrollment, engagement, recruiting, subscription, lead generation).
- Content Direction: Lead the planning, creation, and optimization of high-impact content that highlights student-athlete journeys, recruiting success, educational programming, and training insights.
- Cross-Brand Messaging: Ensure brand voice, tone, and storytelling are consistent and compelling across IMG Academy (campus), IMG Academy+ (online development), and NCSA (recruiting services).
- Team Leadership: Manage and grow a high-performing team. Mentor team members and build workflows that support agility, creativity, and data-backed decisions.
- Performance & Analytics: Set KPIs, monitor engagement, and deliver regular performance reporting with insights that inform growth and strategy.
- Collaboration: Partner with marketing, creative, product, sales, and comms teams to support cross-channel campaigns and drive measurable impact, including support of paid media, web and email.
- Community & Crisis Management: Own community engagement protocols and lead responses in high-sensitivity or crisis scenarios to protect brand integrity.
- Event & Campaign Coverage: Oversee social content strategy and real-time coverage for key events, launches, showcases, and recruiting milestones.
- Trendspotting & Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging platform trends, formats, and youth digital behavior to keep content fresh and relevant.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 7+ years of experience in social media strategy, execution, and leadership—preferably in sports, education, or performance-driven industries
- Experience overseeing multiple brands or sub-brands under one umbrella
- Strong portfolio of past work across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook)
- Expertise in growing engagement and building community across Gen Z and parent/coach demographics
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of developing creative, high-output teams
- Proficiency in social analytics, content planning tools (e.g., Sprout, Influencer, Meta Suite), and reporting dashboards
- Deep understanding of digital storytelling, platform best practices, and performance marketing principles
- Experience working in fast-paced, content-rich environments – particularly those with live, event-driven elements
Preferred Experience:
- Background in sports, education, or tech-focused youth platforms
- Familiarity with NCAA compliance and recruiting-related content sensitivities
- Experience working with influencers, brand ambassadors, and athletes
- Basic creative skills (video editing, graphic design, motion) are a plus
