Academy Grounds, Softball

The Grounds, Softball will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of fields and common spaces within IMG Academy’s Softball Complex. IMG Academy is one of the best athletic training environments in the world. Professional quality facilities and immaculately maintained fields are the standard on campus.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepares fields for daily games and practices - mowing, grooming clay, lining, etc.
• Maintains level surface with packing clay in pitching areas and batter’s boxes
• Assists in adding and dispersing clay and conditioner in all clay areas
• Edges along clay and warning tracks on natural grass fields
• Grooms, cleans, and assists in repairs on synthetic turf fields
• Manages windscreens for daily use and storm preparation
• Pulls infield tarps on/off fields as needed
• Mows, weedeats, edges, trims, and blows off all common areas and landscape beds within the complex
• Operates vertical mowing, aeration, and topdressing equipment
• Assists in sod replacement in high traffic areas
• Picks trash and empties receptacles within the complex
• Hand waters clay as needed
• Keeps related tools, equipment, and spaces clean and organized
• Incorporates safe work practices in job related activities
• Assists with a wide-range of non-baseball events including Lacrosse, Football, and Soccer
• Performs any other duties as assigned by Baseball/Softball Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Experience using lawn mowers or other landscaping equipment
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Skills:

• Bilingual
• Experience working with baseball/softball clay and conditioner

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to lift, carry, move, push and pull equipment or boxes up to 50lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift
• Ability to work on various indoor and outdoor surfaces including grass, turf, courts, etc. in all weather
• Ability to bend, push, pull and twist throughout regular work duties
• Ability to work on mechanical equipment throughout regular work duties
• Ability to work with chemicals including herbicides, insecticides and fertilizers
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
