The Benefits Coordinator position assists team members with benefits questions and processes, coordinates workers’ compensation claims, and maintains the team member discount program. This position will also oversee the leave of absence and job accommodation processes as well as assist in other HR functions as necessary.
Job Requirements
- Provide support to team members by addressing questions and helping them understand company benefit offerings, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and wellness programs.
- Conduct new hire benefits orientations and guide employees through the benefits self-enrollment process.
- Support the administration of leaves of absence and workplace accommodations by coordinating with team members, managers, and third-party insurance providers.
- Maintain and update the employee discount program, and actively research and propose new employee perks.
- Process COBRA events within the HRIS and ensure accurate reporting to the benefits vendor.
- Assist with workers’ compensation claims by working closely with the third-party administrator, following up on open claims, and reviewing loss reports.
- Coordinate communication between team members, medical providers, managers, and adjusters regarding workers’ compensation cases.
- Review, reconcile, and process benefits-related vendor invoices for timely payment.
- Support the development and implementation of wellness initiatives, including event planning, incentive tracking, and promotional communications.
- Maintain and regularly update content on the company’s internal benefits site and employee communication platform.
- Assist the HR Manager in compiling and submitting benefits-related reports and documentation.
- Perform additional duties and provide administrative support as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 2-3 years of experience in team member benefits and applicable laws.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Workday knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This role is considered essential and may be required to work during weather emergencies or business closures in order to meet operational requirements
