Senior Accountant

As the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing accounting technology, the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and assisting with financial reporting, audits, and compliance. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in accounting principles, a strong analytical mindset, and excellent communication skillsEnsure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.  This role will work closely with VP Controller to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions. They will ensure alignment with company priorities and the long-term strategy for enterprise systems. 

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and update the administration of financial systems, including user administration to ensure it remains current and functional 
  • Support designing, developing, and working with stakeholders to implement effective technology solutions to supports capability, efficiency, supportability, ease of maintenance and system performance 
  • Support developing and implementing technology strategies to enhance accounting processes and financial reporting. 
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes through automation and technology. 
  • Assist in leading projects to implement process improvements and increase operational efficiency. 
  • Ensure data integrity and security across all financial systems. 
  • Collaborate with senior management to align technology initiatives with business goals 
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly preparation of financial statements 
  • Prepare balance sheet accounts reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements 
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards assets 
  • Support external audits, help prepare audited financial statements and ensure timely audit completion 
  • Support the VP Controller in all aspects of accounting operations. 
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including applicable accounting updates; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.  
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization. 
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.  
  • Adhering to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field 
  • Three years of experience in public/private accounting with exposure to accounting software or financial technology systems 
  • Experience with system migrations, upgrades, or implementing financial systems 
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and well versed in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. .  
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) 
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills 
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately critical 
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills 
  • Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Bacherlor’s degree in Accounting, or related field 
  • Strong understanding of accounting software solutions and administrations (NetSuite, Concur, Esker) 

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
