The general salary range for this position is $116,400 – $186,200. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.

Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Managing Director, Project Management Office for the Technology & Information Solutions department. The purpose of the position is to govern project management across the Technology and Information Solutions department. Manages portfolios for projects associated with business initiatives that require technological services from concept to funded project, through implementation and sustainment.
Responsibilities:
• Drives continuous improvement of  Project Management Office (PMO) capabilities and processes, including templates, project methodologies, and a portfolio aligned with organizational strategy. Maintains and improves standard operating procedures for planning, scheduling, risk, requirements, technical specifications, and budget management. Develops and institutionalizes best practices, standards, and policies for Program Management across the IT enterprise;
• Ensures the PMO function is aligned with and driven from the organization’s business needs and priorities based upon the executive direction from the roadmaps developed in the quarterly planning meetings with executives. Leads the quarterly planning meetings and communicates the outcomes;
• Manages the PMO department to ensure that staff achieve their goals, including providing staff with guidance and advice, training, performance management, leadership development, and career development. Coordinates priorities and tasks and monitors progress;
• Manages the Hardware and Software Committee to evaluate and track new technology requests from initial request through final resoluction;
• Drives continuous improvement of PMO processes. Develops, matures, and releases structured project management processes and templates to lead institutionalization of Program Management best practices, standards, and policies across the information technology enterprise;
• Drives collaboration between project managers in other departments as needed to ensure project interdependencies are fully understood;
• Interprets project financials including costs for proposed projects.  Ensures the technology roadmap includes estimated financial implications and business improvement initiatives including capital, expense and labor, and that a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) are developed for all technology initiatives;
• Ensures the Program Management Office (PMO) has a mechanism in place to track the business improvement initiative’s effectiveness at achieving the results stated in its business case.  Ensures there is a project monitoring and reporting process in place to identify opportunities for improving the realization of business value from improvement initiatives;
• Manages estimate accuracy and quality of services completed and/or implemented into the production environment; 
• Provides process governance across all business improvement initiatives from concept to implementation across all technology areas.  Ensures project configurable items are managed such as problem statements, business cases, project plans, TCO/ROI, risks, issues, communication plans, and project interdenpendencies;
• Collaborate with the other members of the PMO to create regular communications to inform staff of current technology projects and releases;
• Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience required.  Master’s degree preferred;  
• Project Management Certification or equivalent experience preferred; 
• A minimum of nine (9) years of experience in an analytical, research function, demonstrating depth in a particular area of analysis and with progressive experience utilizing strategic/critical thinking and creativity required; 
• Supervisory/management experience required;
• Experience driving enterprise/systemic change preferred;
• Experience with managing complex resource demands at an enterprise level, including priority decision making preferred;
• Experience developing and managing a financial budget from a project perspective including operating and capital expenditures preferred;
• Experience developing a financial forecast associated with projects preferred;
• Experience developing business cases for change preferred;
• Ability to use financial management knowledge and experience to project accounting and capital planning;
• Leadership ability in work setting. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff; 
• Ability to set a positive tone for employees during their day;
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive; 
• Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
• Strong collaboration skills to manage cross functional project managers;
• Demonstrated strong process management skills to include process definition, procedure development, and role and responsibility identification;
• Ability to manage change to facilitate smooth transitions into operations; 
• Ability to evaluate estimates for completeness and accuracy;
• Organizational, project, and priority management skills for planning, executing and following up on issues, projects and daily responsibilities in order to meet established deadlines;
• Knowledge of business operations, including effective budget development and management processes;
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
• Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred. 

 
This position is in the DC Metro Area- Remote Eligible
