The general salary range for this position is $55,000 – 75,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.

 

Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a GIS Analyst I for the Pets for Life department. In this position you will manage and maintain the Pets for Life (PFL) database and website system, support and train users. Utilize SQL for data selection, analysis, and reporting. You will manage the GIS mapping systems and create and update maps to display and analyze program data. You will also work closely with the Access to Care and Pets for Life teams and mentorship partners on strategy for program growth, policy support, fundraising, and messaging on data and mapping.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages, maintains, and updates the Pets for Life WordPress database and website system;
  • Manages ArcGIS Desktop, Online, and administrator software systems. Creates, updates, analyzes, and interprets spatial datasets, and uses spatial data to create static map projects and design web map applications;
  • Gathers and evaluates revisions/additions to the PFL database to improve functionality. Troubleshoots technical database and website issues and works closely with database consultant to fix problems and implement updates and new features;
  • Work closely with Access to Care and PFL teams on strategic thinking around data and mapping for program storytelling, fundraising and policy support. Explores innovative ways to utilize GIS mapping to further Access to Care efforts;
  • Using SQL, selects and downloads data, creates program reports, analyzes program data, and works with the leadership and training team to track program goals and results;
  • Trains database users from mentorship partners and supported markets from around the country and internationally, remains available for and responds to requests for help, and monitors user feedback;
  • Creates and maintains training documents, support services for mentorship partners, and ensures program data and mapping is innovative and impactful;
  • Designs and implements data collection processes, systems for evaluation and analysis, and reporting methods;
  • Works closely with the Access to Care Vice President to monitor data integrity;
  • Works closely with the PFL team to clean and repair data from mentorship partners as needed;
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.  

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience required;
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related experience required;
  • Knowledge of database management, ArcGIS and relevant systems;
  • Must be willing and able to travel;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment;
  • Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred. 

 

This is a full-time remote position based in the US.
