The Machine Operator, under the direction of the RTH Team Lead and Area Manager, sets up and operates all production machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Additionally, with the support of the Automation Manager and Maintenance Department, helps develop and train standard operating procedures. This position will be located in our Linden fulfillment center.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Objectives of this Role

● Responsible for setting up and programming machines for the proper size, weight, codes and dates for each bag/container produced

● Verify set up of machine; verify that the machine has been properly put back together from sanitation crew along with scales and their proper function

● Ensure that the products are safe and meet the customer specifications

● Communicate quality issues of raw product or finished goods to the appropriate personnel

● Responsible for machine set-up, general machine operation and changeovers

● Responsible for the completion of all paperwork including, but not limited to, PCP as well as system productivity and downtime recording

● Follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the day

● Responsible to perform the following product quality checks: specification check, packaging check, produce quality check, seal integrity check, code date check

● Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

 

Skills and Requirements

● Basic mechanical and math skills

● Possess the ability to write routine reports

● Be capable of meeting all required testing frequencies (detailed, fast-paced work)

● Be capable of operating measuring instruments, such as the weight scale and thermometer

● Be capable of performing basic math calculations and use a calculator

● Bagger / Automation operation experience

● Some PLC / Electronics knowledge

● Food industry experience

● Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction

● Ability to uphold safety, food safety, production quality and freshness standards

● Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure

● Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment

● Must be at least 18 years old

● Must be eligible to work in the US

● Must satisfactorily complete a background check and drug screen upon offer

● Must be able to work weekends, overtime and holidays as required

● Must be able to bend and lift up to 49 pounds repetitively, with or without accommodation.

● Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, with or without accommodation.

● Exposure to temperatures that range from freezing to sub-freezing (coolers, freezers, etc.) with or without accommodation

● Must be able to push, pull, squat, bend, and reach above and below shoulders; repetitive use of hands, with or without accommodation

 

 

Experience / Education

● High school diploma or equivalent preferred

● 6+ months experience in manufacturing environment preferred
