National Account Director

JOB TITLE:National Account Director

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales & Marketing

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

SUMMARY:

Responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in their market segments; prospecting and contracting on assigned segment/territory to positively impact hotel revenues, developing, coordinating and executing strategic action plans with the objective of increasing business and revenue and positioning Bernardus Lodge & Spa as a premier meeting and incentive destination.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals.
  • Develop a robust strategic and tactical action plan to manage account portfolio including online research, telephone and email solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, familiarization trips and onsite client entertainment.
  •  Develop complete knowledge and follow through with company sales policies and SOP’s.
  •  Become familiar with selling guidelines and adjust/modify with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy to meet/exceed group budget.
  • Become familiar with all business units including food and beverage, spa, programming and activities and strive to maximize overall group capture and contribution.
  • Respond to all assigned inquiries in a timely manner following established guidelines.
  • Trace all existing clients for repeat business. Maintain regular contact with existing clients and create outbound campaigns to acquire new and future business.
  • Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
  •  Operate within established sales expense budget.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
  •  Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Bernardus Lodge & Spa standards as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include      compliance with dress code and wearing a nametag when working.
  • Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Assist the DOSM with special projects.
  • Support safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times.
  • Other duties and jobs may be assigned as needed by supervisor.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • 3-5 years related experience in luxury resorts/hotel group sales and catering
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers. 
  • Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market. 
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans. 
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including security and safety programs.
  • Ability to operate standard Audio/Visual equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
  • Must meet legal age requirements for the position.

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

3-5 years related experience in luxury resorts/hotel group sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  

  • Must speak and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized or non-standardized situations. Ability to be proactive with duties and responsibilities.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Advanced knowledge of various computer programs, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Explorer.
  • Knowledge of Delphi
  • Knowledge of OperaCloud preferred but not required.

 

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:

  • Valid California Driver License is required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment at Bernardus Lodge ranges from winter time lows of 20 degrees to summer time highs to 100+ degrees. While performing these duties the employee may be exposed to outdoor and inclement weather conditions.
