Senior Accountant
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager to review and maintain general ledger accounts, prepare and review monthly reconciliations, perform financial analysis, and support ad hoc projects and requests while adhering to internal audit procedures. The Senior Accountant will help coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes and has responsibilities regarding, but not limited to, the oversight of the Fixed Asset subledger, Vehicle Registrations, and Banking. This position's accounting background is essential to understanding accounting concepts.
This position uses its discretion and independent judgment to achieve objectives conveyed by the Accounting Manager.
This position works on major assignments when such assignments arise.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts
- Facilitate and manage the month-end close process
- Assist with analyzing financial information monthly and resolving variances
- Responsible for monthly reconciliations to ensure proper and timely balance sheet maintenance
- Continuously identify, recommend, and implement process improvement ideas
- Document and maintain current processes and procedures
- Supervise, direct, and review the work of the accounting staff in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned – will participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special
- reports
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- 2+ years of experience in a Senior Accountant role
- Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively and proactively communicate with accounting staff, management, operational/divisional
- personnel at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/tasks in a changing environment
- Ability to effectively use a modern automated financial management system
- Must be a self-starter and execute with little to no direction
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
