SUMMARY

Gets direction from the Machine Shop Supervisor; his/her primary responsibilities are to set up and run tooling and fixtures for the Model Shop; completing all task assigned according to the Router and Blue Print. Comply with all Machine Shop Processes; including but not limited to all WI, (Work Instruction) MI, (Manufacturing Instruction) and OP, (Operating Procedures). All tasks should be performed accurately, timely and without instruction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Receive, review and interrupt Machine Shop Paper, (MSP) and Tooling needed for Set-Up.

· Working under Machinist II.

· Make tooling, fixtures, jigs and models to support manufacturing:

· Using conventional Lathes, Bridgeport type horizontal mills, surface grinders and their support equipment, ban saws, pedestal grinders, etc.

· Keeping area clean.

· Understand Blue Prints and interpret geometrical tolerances. .

· Complete all coordinating documents, First Article Sheet, MSP, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, (OEE) and 5s.

· Provide First Article Inspection, (FAI).

· Troubleshoot and evaluate machining problems and communicate clearly and effectively the discrepancies.

· Able to use all inspection equipment essential to the task.

· Support the Quality System by promoting compliance to the company’s Quality Manual, procedures and policies.

Physical Demands:

· Combined sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day to accomplish tasks.

· Ability to sit or stand for long periods when performing and reporting on tasks

· Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

· Reaching, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing, crouching or stooping on a daily basis.

· Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS

· One or more years as a machinist using conventional equipment.

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· Good understanding of shop math, geometry, trigonometry and blueprint reading.

· Good oral and written communication skills.

· Hand dexterity, coordination and accuracy.

· Ability to communicate and interface well with a wide range of people.

· Attentive to detail.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Possible electrical hazards, possible fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, odors, moveable mechanical parts, low to moderate noise level.
