HR Business Partner I
SUMMARY
Responsible for the administration of company policies and human resources procedures. Collects and maintains HR metrics related to organizational development, performance management, exit surveys, etc. to help make recommendations for improvement. Assists in partnering with management and staff to provide consultative advice to optimize employee relations and occasionally support recruitment efforts. Fields inquiries from employees and leaders and provides employee relations support in concert with HR Business Partner team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides initial employee relations support in the areas of organizational development, performance management, coaching/counseling, investigating reported incidents, and separations.
- Partners with Sr. HRBPs and/or internal HR management when necessary in collaboration with legal counsel for guidance on employment matters.
- Drafts termination risk assessment, separation agreements, closure letters, etc.
- Audits and reviews HR files.
- Reviews background checks through third party vendor and coordinates follow up as needed.
- Partners with various centers of excellence within Human Resources to promote HR programs and best practices utilizing a consultative approach. Engages in cross-functional collaboration as needed.
- Performs exit survey follow-up, analyzes trends, provides recommendations for organizational improvement to managers or Senior HRBP to share with Senior Leaders.
- Provides HR support during acquisition integration, ongoing management and employee support post-close, and assists with overflow in other areas during large acquisitions.
- Responsible for responding to incidents submitted to HR or via the ethics reporting system, including timely investigation, recommendations, and closure.
- Interprets and explains handbook and other policies in response to employee and management inquiries and advises on company protocols.
- Accesses and updates HR systems with a high level of confidentiality.
- Reviews offers of employment for accuracy and to ensure pay equity across the company.
- Supports secondary stage of workers’ compensation which includes return to work program, report analysis, claims research, and partners with internal workers compensation representatives on escalated claims.
- Collaborates on leaves of absence with employees, leaders, and leave administrators to ensure timely communication and compliance. In partnership with senior team members, engages in the interactive process on potential disability accommodations, as appropriate.
- Responds to inquiries from outsourced unemployment administrator and attends hearings.
- Assesses business HR related training needs. Collaborates with internal HR team and Professional Development to develop new trainings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Four (4) or more years general HR experience
Experience with HR Systems
SKILLS
Basic knowledge of employment law, legislative changes, and legal trends as they impact Human Resources and the organization
Basic knowledge of interactive process, ADA, FMLA and state specific laws regarding leaves of absences and workplace accommodations
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills
Good problem solving, judgment and decision making skills
Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information
Ability to work remotely in a self-directed manner
Ability to handle high volume and adapt to change
