Actuarial Analytics Specialist
**This position is based in the Yardley PA office 3 days per week and requires Insurance experience.
SUMMARY
Responsible for implementing actuarial services for Alliant agencies by applying advanced statistical methodologies to conduct complex quantitative analyses and provide analysis and support to management and underwriting. Utilize advanced data skills to drive risk management, financial planning and decision-making surrounding the MGA business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Forecast financial exposure by utilizing broad knowledge of advanced statistical methodologies to analyze and interpret complex data surrounding new business and develop recommendations to mitigate risk and achieve profitability goals.
- Support pricing and financial planning by performing actuarial studies; advise leaders on pricing and financial strategies and policies.
- Develop actuarial analysis and modeling tools.
- Monitor, evaluates and reports trends and outside developments to ensure adopted methods are robust and valid for business use.
- Ensure utilization of industry best practices by managing and revising actuarial systems, models and procedures to encourage efficiency and organizational competitiveness in the market.
- Guide decision-making by researching new business and analyzing data to advise senior level actuaries and other departments on profitable business opportunities.
- Research and develop approaches for writing new lines and products.
- Build and revise rating tools for underwriting.
- Provide loss reserve analysis for clients as requested.
- Assist with developing framework for capturing premium, exposure and loss data across underwriting programs.
- Work carrier partner actuaries in reviewing profitability and developing underwriting strategies for existing programs as well as new product development.
- Design and automate dashboard tools for monitoring key performance metrics across various program portfolios.
- Build relationships by partnering and collaborating with team and across the business to communicate information and foster an understanding of Actuarial department functioning.
- Implement high quality analysis by ensuring program reviews are accurate, timely, complete and communicated to end-users to ensure the sharing of useful knowledge for decision-making.
- Comply with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information).
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ten (10) or more years related work experience with actuarial analyses in area of responsibility; Property and Casualty actuarial field required
Fellowship with Casualty Actuary Society required.
SKILLS
- Advanced working knowledge of specialized math including calculus, statistics, and probability
- Advanced working knowledge of complex actuarial pricing techniques and best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Proficient with Industry Data Sources such as ISO and NCCI
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
- Skilled in the use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a complex changing environment
- Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
- Ability to travel up to 15%
