Executive Claims Adjuster - Commercial Liability Insurance
SUMMARY
Responsible for handling complex Directors & Officers and other liability claims and suits, as well as commercial casualty and non-injury casualty claims, in accordance with client, carrier and company guidelines, statutory regulations and established best practices. Primary duties include oversight of field investigations, case evaluations, reporting to carrier oversight personnel as applicable, and setting and maintaining adequate reserves. Expectations include managing claims through well-developed action plans to an appropriate and timely resolution, as well as providing supervision and direction to Counsel assigned to claims in suit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains diary system to ensure claim files are current, and follow ups are completed as required;
• Investigates and evaluates claims to determine liability and compensability;
• Exercises independent judgment and decision making to effect best possible outcomes;
• Communicates with vendors, Producers, policy holders, clients and insurance companies as required;
• Negotiates settlements with claimants and insureds;
• Reports to carrier oversight personnel as applicable, providing updates on litigated claims, serious injuries, and claims in excess of local authority;
• Sets and manages indemnity and expense reserves, and ensures that adequate levels are maintained;
• Analyzes and reviews invoices for payment;
• Provides producer inquiry assistance;
• Creates and maintains reports and worksheets as needed;
• Provides training and mentoring to less experienced adjusters;
• Travels as necessary to attend appeal hearings, trials, and perform on-site investigations;
• Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Seven (7) or more years of experience in all phases of Casualty and D&O claim management
ATT-JD - Attorney preferred
Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred
