Job Summary:
The Warehouse Clerk Maintenance will support multiple grocery store locations by performing routine maintenance tasks, ensuring a clean and safe environment for customers and employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, minor repairs, and equipment upkeep.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections of store facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Report any significant maintenance issues or potential hazards to the Maintenance Manager promptly.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Order and restock supplies to ensure all stores have the materials for routine upkeep.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events or promotions.
- Provide support for emergency maintenance situations as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and supply inventory.
- Update maintenance logs and submit reports to the Maintenance Manager regularly.
- Work closely with store managers and staff to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting store operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders by addressing maintenance concerns promptly and effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair skills.
- Proficiency in using essential maintenance tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and cleaning machines.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
- Communicate Effectively with the maintenance manager and other team members to coordinate tasks and share important information about maintenance needs.
Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across various store locations.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with store staff and customers.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
- Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
- Climbing ladders or scaffolding to perform specific maintenance tasks at elevated heights.
- Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
- Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
- Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
Work Conditions:
- Work Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
- The position may require working in shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, to cover the store's operating hours.
- The schedule may vary based on the store's needs and special events.
- Environment: While primarily indoor and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation, duties may occasionally require outdoor work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Tasks like walk-in freezers and refrigerated sections may require working in cold storage areas.
- Primary Work Stations: Primarily work within the grocery store environments, which include various sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
- Occasionally working in confined spaces or awkward positions to address maintenance issues.
- Dress Code: Durable, comfortable clothing, such as work pants and a work shirt.
- A strong focus on maintaining a safe environment for customers, employees, and self. Adherence to health and safety guidelines is paramount, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals at store locations.
- Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods from customers, store announcements, and equipment.
- Interaction: Constant interaction with team members in a fast-paced retail environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One to three years of Maintenance experience in a retail environment.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license for fleet insurability and travel between store sites.
