Medical Assistant

JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for the care and coordination of members
assigned to their care team. In addition, MAs are responsible for the completion of clinic
tasks to ensure the accomplishment of daily patient care and safe clinic flow. The
position will complete daily assignments, monitor and track appointments, follow up on
no-shows, processes referrals and schedule follow-up and specialty appointments. This
position will be responsible for providing excellent internal and external customer
service. The Medical Assistant is responsible for making sure that all patient/client data is
accurate and kept secure and will also ensure HIPAA compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives and directs phone calls, schedules appointments, check-in patients,
obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and
ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients. - Check-out patients assist with patient education and referral processing
- Performs specimen and phlebotomy collection arrange laboratory services.
- Ensures timely laboratory services and follow-up on specimen delivery and
results. - Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients’ health history.
- Set-up EKG machines administer injections and medications and perform routine
specimen collection and tests. - Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
- Responsible for the warm hand-off of patients as they are transitioning through
various parts of the clinic. - Ensures sanitation processes are maintained according to CBI policy throughout
the clinic and in exam rooms between patients. - Assist medical practitioner with medical treatments procedures and exams
- Manage inventory and equips exam rooms with appropriate medical supplies
- Completes and monitors all forms related to prior authorizations required for
patient care needs, i.e. specialty appointments, medications. - Updates care team assignments and ensures coordination of care
- Is an active participating member of their assigned care team
- Coordinates with clinical teams to gather necessary information
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures
- Ensures that referral processes are completed timely and efficiently.
- Ensures daily documentation expectations are met for each medical assistant
and information is accurately reflected within Electronic Medical Records - Responds timely to assist with patient concerns or lobby escalations.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisory and/or administrative personnel.
