EXL Health is looking for a Detail-Oriented, Claims-Savvy DME Auditor to join our fast-growing team. This is a fully remote opportunity – work from anywhere in the U.S. and help shape the future of healthcare auditing.


💼 What You’ll Be Doing:

As a DME Auditor, you’ll use your deep understanding of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial reimbursement rules to review professional claims and ensure proper coding and payment. You’ll analyze claims, document your findings clearly, and help our clients recover overpayments—all while making a direct impact on healthcare efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review professional claims to verify HCPCS coding accuracy and appropriate reimbursement for Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
  • Apply industry knowledge and EXL’s proprietary tools to identify overpayments and audit trends.
  • Write clear, professional audit rationales based on AMA guidelines.
  • Navigate various client systems to reprice and process complex claims.
  • Interpret provider contracts and fee schedules to determine correct payment methods.
  • Maintain high standards for quality, productivity, and appeals uphold rate.
  • Stay updated on coding guidelines, CMS/OIG policies, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all federal/state regulations.

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in claims processing, medical billing, or auditing—with a strong focus on Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
  • In-depth knowledge of HCPCS codes and reimbursement policies.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret contract language and fee schedules.
  • Preferably certified with RHIA, CPC, or similar credentials (multiple credentials are a plus).
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate Excel and Word skills, with a solid grasp of basic math.
