EXL is seeking an experienced Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) Trainer/Quality Analyst.

 

This is a remote office opportunity. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced DRG Trainer and Quality Analyst to join our organization. This is a dual-role position where the candidate will be responsible for all aspects of DRG training, evaluating our needs and current practices and creating and delivering a training development plan complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as online modules and guides. In addition, this role plays a key part in improving team performance and supporting coding accuracy and compliance by performing quality audits and providing timely coaching and feedback. The ideal candidate will be a confident public speaker and a devoted educator with a strong background in DRG coding, training and quality assurance who is up to date on the latest tools and resources needed to improve employee training and performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and mentor DRG coders; present training/instructions to both groups and individuals
  • Create training material, update and maintain training records and resource library
  • Evaluate training effectiveness; identify gaps and create training to address
  • Conduct employee assessments
  • Review employee performance; responsible for timely coaching and feedback by reviewing the accuracy and consistency of DRG coding auditors to ensure audits are appropriately marked for findings and no findings
  • Track and compile collected data
  • Provide root cause analysis on errors
  • Identify potential opportunities outside of the concept for additional recoveries
  • Recommend process changes to improve quality and performance
  • Communicating with peers and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conduct all job functions and responsibilities in accordance with all company Compliance, Information Security and Regulatory policies, procedures and programs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant DRG and APR DRG coding/auditing/training experience
  • RHIT or RHIA certification
  • CCS certification, CPC certification
  • Certification or degree in education or training, or related field
  • Previous experience as a trainer, corporate training specialist, or related position

  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology and human physiology
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines and schedules
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Problem-solving skills; ability to recognize issues and fix them with logical, timely, and appropriate solutions  
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as needed
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
  • Must be able to work under deadlines. Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
