About this opportunity:
- Plans and coordinates the public relations functions for the Area Command; coordinators all public relations initiatives; ensures the news media and pubic receive a clear image of The Salvation Army programs, services, and special events.
- Assists the Development Director with fulfilling donor relations, database maintenance, record keeping, development and donor communication, prospect research, as required of the Development Department. The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, securing and retention of donor sponsorships for activities on/off campus. Will work in collaboration with the Development and Social Services Department in determining which type of donor sponsorships are needed for all program activities, campaigns, annual fundraisers and community awareness exposure.
Key responsibilities:
- Develops and implements social media strategy through research, benchmarking and audience identification; create, grow and maintain existing social network, measure the success of the social media campaign; collaborate with other departments to ensure programs, events and services are successfully communicated to donors and to the public.
- Designs and prints invitations and programs for special events, reviews and produces collateral and marketing for distribution promoting social services and initiatives of The Salvation Army to donors and the public. Produces and mails semi-annual newsletter to William Booth Society members.
- Generates story ideas and drafts news releases for review by Director of Development on a regular basis. Creates public awareness of Salvation Army programs, activities, accomplishments, events and needs. Participates in marketing and community engagement Committee meetings.
- Serves as a liaison to the news media and public, setting forth a clear image of The Salvation Army programs, services, and special events. Maintains contact with all local news media (including print, radio and television). Work on identifying pro-bono media opportunities to share news of the Salvation Army programs.
- Staff liaison to the Echelon Young Professionals Group; Assist with public relations, marketing, memberships and events.
- Interacts professionally with community supporters, including Advisor Board, Auxiliary, donors, members of the media, etc. Assists with special events planned and organized by the Development Department. Including advertising, scripts, AV production and promotion.
- Works closely with Development Director to provide ideas and input for website and help ensure that website content is up to date. Maintains email lists and sends pertinent information to donors through this channel.
- Act as liaison to companies. organizations and individuals; request support for annual campaigns.
- Attends networking events as assigned by Director of Development.
- Recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers for special programs including Christmas programs.
- Assist with maintaining all the N.E. Florida Area Command social media accounts, and website homepage, update homepage as necessary and as directed by supervisors
- Oversees video production and all digital marketing. Moved to donor relations.
Donor Relations Job Duties:
- Receives and processes checks and or correspondences from donors in an accurately and timely manner; records pertinent information in Interchange; prepares correspondence regarding the same acknowledging the receipt and processing of the same.

- Assists in processing mail appeal donations.
- Works with Director of Development to create solicitation and year-round engagement strategies to retain current and attract new donors to secure funding; ensures that all request from donors and potential donors for information and clarification are responded to in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
- Provides donor research to identify major gift prospects, determine gift potential, memberships, relationships, education, vocational or other linkages to The Salvation Army.
- Conducts research of local foundations to help identify potential funding sources that would support the work of The Salvation Army and provide findings to the Development Director. Provides assistance to grant writer and handles some grant writing.
- Generates gift acknowledgment letters, board thank you notes, new donor letters, thank you calls, and mass mailings to donors and prospective donors; recordkeeping and prospect research; maintains development database; enters donor donation into database and generates reports.
- Solicits in-kind donations and sponsorships for various event and complete calls from donors desiring to make credit card gifts.
- Responsible for carrying out cultivation and stewardship strategies developed to reach out to identified annual fund donors.

- Update, edit, and submit weekly top donor reports to Development team.

What we are looking for in you:
BS or BA degree from and accredited college or university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related Business field.

Four years progressively responsible experience performing public relations functions and coordinating social services programs or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
