Location:  Chattanooga Metropolitan Area Command – Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Position: Part Time Cook
Hourly Rate: $15.00

About this opportunity:

Plans, prepares, cooks, and serves nutritious meals and snacks by established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are ready and done in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains an inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plans menus remove and supplies necessary for preparing and serving nutritional meals.

 

  • Cleans, cooks, and prepares various foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies per acceptable and economical cooking methods.

 

  • Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is ready promptly as scheduled.
  • Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner; prepares plates for youth or persons requiring additional assistance.
  • Sets tables with plates, napkins, and utensils or sets up a buffet line for self-service.
  • Prepares snacks and prepares plates of food for people to eat after regular serving hours.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, AND

 

  • One year of experience cooking food for large groups, OR

 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

  • Ability to show up to work on time.

 

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

 

  • Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.

 

  • Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

 

  • Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

 

  • Work is performed in a typical kitchen environment where limited physical discomforts may be associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
