Life Skills Program Coordinator

About this opportunity:
Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors the day-to-day operations of the Job Skills Training Program; develops, implements, and evaluates program operations and services; Supervises program beneficiaries and volunteers; ensures work is in compliance with established policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations; manages all case management work; prepares and monitors program expenditures in compliance with program budget. Enrolls prospective clients in the program, ensures maintenance of accurate records, and ensures the clients’ basic living needs are met while on the program.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies in order to maintain awareness of resources and make appropriate referrals.
- Develop and implement strategies.
- Conducts the intake of perspective clients. conducts exit interviews and processes exit paperwork. Prepares and maintains accurate individual files for all clients.
- Sets up counseling session with counselor when needed and appropriate.
- Provides basic TSA social services for all program participants.
- Coordinates needed services and scholarships with the TSA Social Services Department.
- Conducts drug and alcohol testing to prospective clients. May conduct random drug and/or alcohol testing for clients in the program.
- Completes incident reports as necessary. Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiate appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Plans and organizes special outings.
- Ensures that all participants in the program receive assistance as needed with housing, meals, life skill classes, transportation, financial assistance, food/clothing/furniture assistance, employment assistance, educational and vocational training; ensuring that all operations run smoothly and are in compliance with established procedures.
- Supervises program beneficiaries and volunteers; instructs and trains the same in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work in progress and upon completion for compliance with established program policies and procedures.
- Receives phone calls in a courteous and tactful manner; provides accurate and complete information regarding the Job Skills Training Program; attempts to resolve complaints in a calm, courteous manner.
- Works with the Program manager on planning, developing, coordinating, implanting, and evaluating program services based on changing needs of clientele; develops programs to assist in the stabilization of individuals as well as to provide crisis intervention; conducts assessments to identify programs strengths and weaknesses and to specify program goals.
- Provides guidance and develops action plans designed to lead clients to self-sufficiency and independent living; monitors clients’ progress in achieving personal goals through meetings, job training, classes and through one-on-one interactions.
- Develops, implements and enforces program policies and procedures; prepares and updates procedure manual.
- Working within an established budget; monitors program funds and expenditures ensuring compliance with program budget; monitors budget restrictions and ensures that program operations comply. Works with supervisor to identify budget needs and assist with budget development.
- Participates in in-service training as available/required
- Attends workshops of outside agencies to remain current in resources available to those we serve; and to act as a liaison for this ministry.
- Maintains a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
- Maintains statistics and success rates on all clients for donors and major funders.
- Meets regularly with the Grants Manager to report on program success.
- Attends and participates in meetings and speaking engagements regarding the program to potential funders of the Job Skills Training Program.
- Must become proficient in Pathways and other programs necessary to facilitate social services with program participants.
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Services or related field and.
- Two years progressively responsible experience administering and developing social service programs
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Constant amount of physical effort required associated with hand movement, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, vision, hearing, talking, and sitting at least 90% of the work time; rare to occasional amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching at least 30% of the work time. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires travel to conduct community and home visits.
