The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, is looking for (2) two Maintenance Workers/Groundskeepers for our Tulsa Office located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

 

Job Summary:

Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine groundskeeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work; regularly cleans building and sanitizes as necessary.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures.

 

Knowledge of the use of basic carpentry and maintenance tools and uses.

 

Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks.

 

Ability to use carpentry and maintenance tools appropriately. 

 

Ability to paint large areas requiring both bending and lifting, climbing ladders, and reaching.

 

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.

 

Ability to effectively lead other employees doing same type work.

 

Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions.

 

Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.

 

Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.

 

Ability to become and remain eligible to drive Salvation Army vehicles per Salvation Army insurance requirements (if required by job duties).

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

and

 

Two years of experience in handling minor building and maintenance repairs and good skill in the use of hand, lawn, and power tools,

 

or

 

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License

Bulldozer Certification

 

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

Ability to perform heavy lifting.

 

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects (25-50 lbs.).

 

Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies and equipment (50-100 lbs.) occasionally.

 

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

 

Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.

 

Working Conditions:

Work requires working with cleaning chemicals and may involve discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
