Campus Monitor

Location: The Salvation Army - Center of Hope

Rate of Pay: $12.50/hourly            

About this opportunity:

Monitors the behavior and activities of clients at the Center of Hope including monitoring and securing Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with rules and policies to protect the safety of staff and members.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitors client's behavior and activities to ensure compliance with program and facility rules.
• Advises guests of the appropriate behavior to continue in programs and facility.
• Provides monitoring for the building and grounds by being aware of activities happening across the campus.
• Maintains awareness of activities occurring outside of the building, ensures that vehicles are parked in designated areas; ensures property is not vandalized.
• Monitors telephones, security camera, and fire alarm systems; notifies proper authorities and supervisor when emergency assistance is needed.
• Monitors and assist guest coming in/out of the facility; ensures compliance with program/facility rules.
• Ensures all exterior and office doors are locked and secured after business hours.
• Ensures that any fire hazards or unsafe conditions are reported.
• Reports suspected contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security and safety of other guests and staff.
• Prepares and maintains logs and records for assigned shift, ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Locks and unlocks gates and main entrances as needed.
• Responds to emergencies by calling for emergency services and aiding guests.
• Responsible for turning away members of the community who are banned, intoxicated, or listed on the registered sex offender list.
• Ensures that all guests are out of the facility on time.

What we are looking for in you:

• High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Six months’ experience working with the public in security or facility monitoring preferred
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires mobility; duties are performed by a combination of standing, walking, on a frequent change basis; Moderate lifting (25lbs), pushing, pulling. Work is performed both indoors and out in environments where there are moderate discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dirt and the like.
