Campus Housekeeper

Job Summary:

 Performs a variety of housekeeping duties for the campus life department on campus; cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies; sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks; cleans windows, dust and polishes furniture and fixtures; ensures the neatness and cleanliness of guest housing; assist with set up for events and banquets at EBC; assists in maintaining the storage equipment and linens/decoration room, signs in and out decoration when being used on campus.

Performing regular cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors

Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.

Restocking supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas

Removing trash and recycling, and ensuring waste is disposed of properly

Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects as required

Ensuring doors are locked after hours.

 

Other Responsibilities:

Conducting maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs

Report any necessary repairs or maintenance

Adhering to a cleaning schedule while also responding to emergency situations or clean up requests

Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment

Ensure all cleaning materials and supplies are stored correctly

Adhere to health and safety regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices, general building practices and procedures including proper safety precautions.

 

Ability to perform routine cleaning duties, minor repairs, and maintenance activities.

 

Ability to use and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.

 

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

 

Ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required,

and 

One year experience performing general housekeeping duties

Or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Certifications:

 

Valid Driver’s License (preferred)

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform the general housekeeping duties.

Ability to safely lift and carry objects such as linens and decorations.

Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely following all laws, regulations, and policies.

 

Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, calculator, photocopy machine, facsimile, scanner, etc.

 

Duties are performed standing and requires squatting, climbing, bending, and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

 

Physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 50% of work time.

 

Work Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like
