LEAD NURSE
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform unit related duties and other duties as directed by the Regional or Program Director.
- Responsible for the leadership and management of the clinical team, addresses staff needs, and precepts new staff, as assigned.
- Responsible for the daily operations of the clinic for scheduling, processes, protocols, clinic flow, and provider support.
- Facilitate coordination of care and delegates and oversee wound care services performed by RNs, LPNs, and Technicians.
- Review wound care center activities and recommend process flow changes in, or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff.
- Complete wound assessments and perform application of topical wound products, application of topical anesthetics, lower extremity assessment with Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), application of compression wraps, application of NWPT, and other secondary dressings.
- Assist providers and be present for specialized wound care procedures.
- Develop patient-specific wound care plans and regularly review wound progress.
- Measure and photograph wound progress and provide updates to the physician on an ongoing basis as changes occur.
- Follow up with lab and diagnostic results, communicate with provider and patient, and document accurately in the medical record.
- Demonstrate awareness of patient’s age, growth, and developmental level when performing assigned tasks.
- Ensure completion of the pre- and post-clinic checklist tasks. Assign duties to clinical staff, as needed.
- Provide ongoing patient education relevant to disease processes, medications, nutrition, vitamin therapy, and pressure reduction.
- Write all telephone or verbal orders received immediately and obtain provider signatures at the next clinic.
- Ensure accuracy, legibility, and completion of all staff documentation and adhere to daily chart check and correction policy.
- Secure the medical record by double lock procedure or as per facility procedure, whichever is more stringent.
- Maintain open communication with all RXH Management, Clinical Teams and business office staff, host facility staff, and providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Actively participate in all Quality Management measures (i.e., survey preparation, documentation audits, patient satisfaction survey completion, and hand hygiene observations) and ensure all measures are turned in by designated deadlines.
- Provide hyperbaric chamber operations and ensure maintenance as required.
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, patient safety initiatives, survey readiness, infection control regulations, RXH and host facility regulatory and accrediting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure staff demonstrates competency in core and center-specific clinical skills, and that continuing education and certificates are maintained and up to date.
- Authorize purchase of supplies and equipment in collaboration with the Program or Regional Director.
- Administer and uphold all the Company’s values and policies and procedures.
- Continuously work towards the Company’s goal and vision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to work on time, be flexible, continue coordination of care during non-clinic hours as needed, and request changes to schedule infrequently.
- Adhere to RXH’s Privacy and Security Policies as it relates to HIPAA regulations.
- Respect and maintain patient confidentiality in written, verbal, and electronic information.
- Report problems promptly to the designated supervisor.
- Review wound care center activities and recommend process flow changes in, or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff.
EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Nurse holding current license with appropriate State Board of Nursing without restrictions. Maintains full knowledge and works within their scope of practice.
- Must have and maintain valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Must have and maintain ACLS certification from the American Heart Association if ACLS is required per the facility.
- Possess at least six months of wound care clinic experience and a minimum of three years of nursing experience, or a combination of the above listed experiences.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of evidence-based wound healing standards and demonstrate expertise regarding wound etiology assessment, wound bed preparation, and related wound management strategies. Demonstrate proficiency in assessing patients’ wound care needs and assisting to formulate individual wound management plans. Must be knowledgeable of the policies and procedures governing RestorixHealth.

- For traveling Lead Nurses, a valid driver’s license must be maintained at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires the physical demand of standing, bending, lifting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. Some work may require moderate physical exertion (30-50 pounds) on a continuous basis (over 50% of time) or heavy physical exertion (over 50 pounds) on a frequent basis (up to 50% of time).
- The position requires satisfactory passing of drug screening, proof of HepB and MMR immunizations, annual negative TB skin test and/or chest x-ray, annual influenza immunization, and any other facility-specific requirements for credentialing.
- Ability to travel 100% of the time.
- Must be physically able to perform CPR.
