Member Engagement Coordinator
Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. We inspire guests of all ages to connect with the significance of space exploration as incredible feats of human spaceflight continue to bring joy and wonder to the world. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.
We are seeking a full-time Member Engagement Coordinator responsible for providing support in implementing the cultivation and stewardship strategy for Space Center Houston members through onsite visibility, internal communications, planning and hosting incentive programs, and executing high-quality member and community outreach events. Representing Space Center Houston and Member Programs in a warm, outgoing, positive and professional manner, the Member Engagement Coordinator provides and supports excellent customer service and is responsible for personal interactions that compel people to join, renew loyally, and upgrade, driving Development department growth and advancing the Center’s mission. Responsibilities and qualifications are shown below:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of member events, including ticketing, RSVPs, onsite support, and post-event follow-up.
- Respond to requests for information about the Membership program, including clarification of benefits and upselling higher levels of benefits.
- Actively promote and sell memberships at onsite and offsite events.
- Provide excellent customer service to members and prospective members, including handling inquiries, renewals, upgrades ask for member upgrades.
- File activity reports according to department relationship management protocols.
- Assist with member correspondence, including making calls and sending personal emails and notes to steward members and cultivate upgrade readiness.
- Establish effective relationships with Education and Guest Experience teams, to identify opportunities to provide member benefits or promote member programs and collaborate on plans to operationalize initiatives; advocate for improvements that enhance the member experience.
- Ensure consistent, accurate and high-quality onsite visibility of member programs/benefits, sales priorities and promotions; inventory and request new products as needed.
- Provide support for internal rollout of new membership programs.
- Document, evaluate and present member event and sales outcomes to assess ROI; make data-based recommendations to bolster success and reinforce moves management efforts.
- Contribute to planning for strategic growth of member programs; conduct regular surveys of members.
- Represent Space Center Houston and Member Programs in a proactive and professional manner at external community outreach events to facilitate member and donor acquisition as assigned.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all Membership and Space Center Houston matters.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 3 years of directly-related membership or donor events experience.
- Sales experience preferred.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience providing outstanding customer service.
- Ability to proactively establish relationships with potential members, donors and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience planning and documenting plans to support high quality, efficient workflow.
- Strong decision-making skills, especially leveraging data to inform decisions.
- The ability to promote and teach outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively cross-departmentally.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong aptitude for learning new computer systems and programs such as Dynamics 365.
- Ability to represent Space Center Houston in a professional and positive manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is primarily indoors in an office environment, with occasional work outdoors for special events.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including some weekends and evenings.
