GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Events Specialist is responsible for proactively supporting and maximizing Corporate and Retail events on behalf of Golden 1 Credit Union. This role will support organization, production, and management of Corporate and Retail events that drive Golden 1 business goals, brand awareness, and business development.

The Events Specialist will support Corporate and Retail Sponsorships & Events leaders in planning, logistics, and execution of Corporate and Retail events. This role will also lead in planning, communicating, tracking, and managing the Golden 1 Suite at the Golden 1 Center. Additionally, this role will lead on ticket assignment, delivery, and logistics for NBA, MLB, and sponsorship-related events, along with other season ticket distribution as assigned.

This role also includes the production and management of events and initiatives that drive business goals. The Events Specialist supports logistics associated with employee engagement events, grand openings and launch events, member and partner receptions, and other marketing activities and projects.

This individual will oversee comprehensive event management services, including event planning; event budgets; monthly/quarterly goals and reports; the adherence to policies and procedures; promoting activities with employees, the public and members; contracts; facilitation of logistics, scheduling, and partnering with other corporations and organizations as needed. Knowing and understanding industry-leading events management strategies and protocols, as well as a familiarity with the Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, and Central Coast geo-markets is vital to this position.

The Events Specialist will have a strong track record either at a PR/advertising agency, a corporation, or sports enterprise coordinating and managing events. On a daily basis, this person will work with various marketing, communications and community relations professionals, vendors, business partners, company executives, and Sacramento Kings' representatives.

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage Corporate and Retail events pre-production planning and communications.
  2. Ensure a seamless, member-centric experience working with external partners including the Sacramento Kings, Ticketmaster, TicketManager, and relevant vendors.
  3. Create and maintain detailed event calendar.
  4. Coordinate with business partners to plan and execute corporate and retail events, including logistics, marketing, internal and external communications, post-event reporting.
  5. Plan and execute scholarships and grantee receptions including logistics, communications, marketing materials, reporting, and onsite management.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of sponsorship industry landscape, to include market trends and key category activity across sports, music, and entertainment. Work with external clients in the market and allocate Community Suite nights as needed.
  7. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
  8. Research vendor services, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendors for deliverables during various events, on-site execution, rental items, decor, etc. as needed.
  9. Oversee provisioning and assigning of the Golden 1 Credit Union Suite, Season Tickets, and parking at Golden 1 Center by collaborating with internal/external departments to meet goals and ensure communication and information flow is timely, effective, and consistent.

  11. Manage needs, reports, orders, and paperwork for Golden 1’s Community Suite and seats with internal and external partners to include the Sacramento Kings, Ticketmaster, TicketManager, and nonprofit organizations.
  12. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders to increase Golden 1’s Quality Image, promote brand awareness, and cultivate business development opportunities.
  13. Research, track, and provide monthly reports to senior management.
  14. Coordinate Golden 1 employee engagement opportunities to include logistics, communications, marketing materials, reporting, and on-site management.
  15. Assist in the collaboration with Retail teams to develop event strategies and identify event opportunities that align with Golden 1 goals, values, and target audience.
  16. Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Marketing, Social Media, Enterprise Communications, Communications & Community Relations, and Public Relations to support and coordinate promotion of mid-sized event content and material development.
  17. Serve as point of contact and administrator for online giveaway storefront and help manage premium giveaway inventory for Retail, Communications and Community Relations, and Financial Education.
  18. Assist in the execution of college athletic sponsorship benefits throughout the fall, winter, and spring/summer sports, including employee engagement opportunities and Golden 1 member engagement opportunities.
  19. Coordinate with external/internal departments to track and maintain yearly and monthly budgets.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.

  1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff.
  2. EXTERNAL: Vendors, salespeople, members, nonprofit partners, and prospective members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Hospitality Management, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or a related area highly preferred.
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years current experience in corporate, non-profit, and/or live events.
  3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:  
    • Excellent people skills: self-motivated with effective oral and written communication skills required to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of current strategies and practices for effective event planning and design.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software a plus.
    • Relationship building and relationship management skills.
    • Negotiation and contract management skills.
    • Strong detail orientation.
    • Experience and skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, without loss of attention to detail.
    • Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and meet short deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Must reside within the territory and market region they support.
    2. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
    3. Corrected vision within the normal range.
    4. Hearing within normal range.  A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    5. Ability to lift 50 lbs. as may be required. 
    6. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
    7. Local travel by car to attend off-site meetings and promotional events. May require weekend and evening schedules.
