Responsibilities:

  • Assist Pastry Chef in day-to-day operation and be the point of contact in his/her absence. Bake and prepare pastry items according to specification/recipe.
  • Monitor wastage and complete assigned tasks within the given time to meet strict deadlines.
  • Motivate the team and ensure all work areas are always clean. Participate in on-job training and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations as stated in the food safety management system handbook.
  • Report problems with the food safety management system to their manager and the hygiene and food safety team.
  • Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations.
  • Store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards and follow the guidance of the executive or pastry chef.
  • Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly cooperation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proactive and self-organization
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pastry/Bakery preferably within a large production volume unit. 
  • Knowledge of baking ingredients, measuring techniques, mixing methods, kitchen equipment, and baking times.
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field is desirable.
  • Ability to manage through a substantial workload
  • Capability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within the given time in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to accurately monitor wastage
  • Flexibility (different shifts - night, weekends, holidays)
  • Preferred experience in Pastry/ Bakery.
  • Familiarity with common baking ingredients, measuring techniques, mixing methods, kitchen equipment, and baking times.
