GC&E Federal is seeking an LMR Technician.  The candidate for this position will work within our team to support our government Outside Plant program with our Fort Jackson client. As a LMR Technician you will be an integral part in ensuring the successful operations and maintenance of the Telecommunications team at Fort Jackson.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Function

Responsible for configure and maintain the LMR system and equipment. The contractor shall maintain and control all Fort Jackson LMR system utility keys for loading into radios. The contractor shall be proficient with all Motorola and EF Johnson radios for programming and troubleshooting.

  • Monitoring of circuit, equipment, and software update statuses. The Contractor shall install, configure, monitor, program, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace LMR equipment/devices as needed. The Contractor shall oversee the LMR base communication backbone network, which consists of portable, vehicular, and desktop mounted radios that allow communication with each other directly or through a series of repeaters.
  • Shall conduct weekly checks with Directorate of Emergency Services, Dispatch 911 call center, alternate 911 call center, and Fort Jackson Fire Department.
  • Shall track all LMR equipment and computers used to program and maintain the LMR system. The Contractor shall update all LMR system software patches and antivirus software applications as needed.
  • Shall maintain the upkeep of the LMR facilities and tower sites. The contractor shall submit a monthly report on the status of the LMR system and updates to the system that may occur. This monthly report will be submitted for all work completed each month and it shall be submitted to the LMR System administrator on the 5th of each month by email.
  • PMCS of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Tower. The Contractor shall inspect weekly all LMR towers each month. Each tower will be inspected for the following and any discrepancies found will be corrected on the spot or/and reported.
  • Evaluate condition of buildings and towers.
  • Ensure grass is cut and properly maintained, submit work order to DPW as necessary.
  •  Make sure all Antenna support wires are free from obstructions, debris and properly connected
  • Inspect condition of cable for dry rot, exposed conductors and any damage by rodents
  • Ensure all equipment is properly installed and grounded
  • Verify tower telephones are operational
  • Contractor is to not remove any equipment from towers unless told by hand receipt holder

 

Physical Requirements

  • Predominantly indoors in normal office environment
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • May require frequent computer use for several hours at a time
  • Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
  • Must have visual acuity
  • Must be able to lift up-to 25 pounds

Experience with the following:

  • Experience following NIBS and industry standards
  • MS Office Suite Proficient
  • Shall be proficient with the Key Variable Loader (KVL) 4000, used to encrypt portable, mobile, base station and dispatch terminals (Motorola MCC-7500). The contractor shall be Motorola trained and proficient with all aspects which include but not limited to KMF client, Provisional manager, and associated software for both
