Job Description
Read blueprints or technical diagrams. Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems. Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers. Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical, but not all inclusive, duties are as follows:
1. The employee in this classification is responsible for the installation and repair of electrical facilities and apparatus associated with coal mining, distribution systems and buildings.
2. This responsibility will involve wither the installation and/or maintenance and/or repair of a-c and d-c circuits, appliances, lighting and heating facilities, control equipment, generators, motors, switchboards, switchgear transformers, metering, relay circuits, etc., and to prepare forms and reports as required.
3. This responsibility may include providing training to apprentices and work direction to an assigned helper.
4. The incumbent will also perform other related and assigned duties associated with the overall mining operation
Qualifications
Saskatchewan or Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician Certificate. Must be physically fit and must have the ability to co-operate and work effectively with other employees. Must possess a valid Class 3A Driver's License.
Working Conditions
This job involves working on a 7 day alternating or rotating shift basis on a remote mine site. Must be willing to provide own transportation and living accommodations. Employee is required to work 12 or 8 hour shifts on a rotating day and night crew. Position is located on a mine site so the employee will be working in an environment that is susceptible to the weather. A combination of indoor and outdoor work is required for this classification.
