301-Financial Services - 1208-301 Senior Accountant
JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction, to maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; perform related work as required. Work involves regular contact with departments, divisions, public and private agencies and residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintains the general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers for the Golden Rain Foundation and its trust. Prepares journal entries, month-end closings and financial statements. Prepares mutual cash and Intercompany journal entries. Assists in preparing income tax work papers. Prepares variance explanations for corporation Treasurers. Reviews journal entries prepared by other Accounting staff members.
Responsible for all monthly reconciliations for intercompany accounts, prepaids, mutual bank accounts and other accounts as assigned. Prepares payover documents. Initiates electronic transfer payments.
Prepares audit schedules and interacts with auditors for various audits throughout the year. Assists in responding to AB 1098 member requests. Prepares special analyses and projects as assigned.
Regular Attendance Required. All duties performed on-site for the Community.

Calculator, computer, printer, fax machine, copier and telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a climate-controlled indoor office.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting. Considerable experience in general ledger record keeping or equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the following:
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
- Knowledge of the computer and applicable software programs to perform the job.
- Knowledge of the principles, procedures and techniques of accounting, and of financial records and transactions.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, vocabulary and mathematics.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment practices systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of systems, spreadsheets, word processing, database, and scheduling.
- Knowledge of the principles of computer technology and systems analysis.
- Skills in the operation of a personal computer, calculator and other standard equipment.
- Ability to compile and analyze financial reports.
- Ability to multi-task and possess organizational skills.
- Ability to be very detailed with high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain rules and regulations.
- Ability to research problems and prepare written recommendations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear and use hands to finger, grasp, feel and reach. The employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time (up to 6 hours) and use repetitive motion to operate a keyboard for long periods. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, pull, push, stoop and lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee reads, reasons, solves problems, uses verbal and written communication skills, math skills, and able to handle, detailed work, customer contact, interruptions and multiple tasks.
