Contractor position in Keller, TX

Job Summary:

Connections Wellness Group is seeking a compassionate and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or a Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psych PA) with relevant experience, to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) settings. The APP will be responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, providing medication management, and co-facilitating group therapy sessions if needed. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to adults and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Psychiatric Evaluations:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including gathering patient history, performing mental status exams, and formulating DSM diagnostic impressions.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans that integrate medication management and therapeutic interventions.
    • Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies.
  • Medication Management:
    • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including initial prescription, titration, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and medication reconciliation.
    • Provide patient education regarding medication indications, dosages, potential side effects, and adherence strategies.
    • Collaborate with the treatment team regarding medication-related concerns and adjustments.
    • Document all medication-related activities accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Group Therapy:
    • Co-facilitate a variety of therapeutic groups within the PHP and IOP settings, utilizing evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT-informed, process groups).
    • Contribute to the development of group curriculum and activities.
    • Maintain a safe and therapeutic group environment.
    • Observe and document patient participation and progress within group sessions.
    • Collaborate with other group facilitators to ensure cohesive and effective group programming.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, therapists (LPCs, LCSWs, LMFTs), case managers, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families (when appropriate and with consent), and external providers.
    • Provide consultation to other staff members regarding psychiatric issues.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to all ethical and legal standards of practice.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation activities.
  • Professional Development:
    • Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric best practices and relevant research.
    • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills.
    • Maintain all required licenses and certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Licensure (Choose One):
    • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP): Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a current and unrestricted PMHNP license in the state of Texas. Board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
    • Psychiatric Physician Assistant (Psych PA): Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a focus or significant experience in psychiatry. Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of Texas and current NCCPA certification.
  • Experience:
    • 1+ years of experience providing psychiatric medication management.
    • Experience co-facilitating therapeutic groups is highly preferred.
    • Experience working in PHP and/or IOP settings is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Thorough knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric treatment.
    • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
    • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
    • Proficient in providing individual and group therapy interventions.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
    • Commitment to providing culturally competent and patient-centered care.
