General Maintenance PM Shift Casual
Responsible for maintaining the aesthetics of the hotel through activities including, but not limited to painting, wallpapering, and furniture repair.
Essential Job Functions
Functions
- Ensure proper colors are used in painting through activities mixing and matching paints
- Apply all paints and primers smoothly and evenly
- Perform all activities related to drywall, taping, and finishing
- Perform all wall covering installation and renewal
- Maintain caulking in tubs and showers to prevent leakage
- Perform guest room preventive maintenance activities including, but not limited to HVAC maintenance, duct cleaning, checking TVs and lubricating hinges
- Change light bulbs when needed
- Interact in courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff, and community members
- Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner in order to resolve all guest and staff difficulties
- Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted or papered to ensure proper use of paint brushes
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area
- Interact in courteous and professional manner with guests and hotel staff with whom employee comes into contact
- Attend to guest's request or complaints when possible and appropriate; when inappropriate inform supervisor or appropriate person of request and follow to ensure it was resolved
- Assist with related duties and special projects as requested
- Attending training sessions set out by the Westin Resort to ensure continued personal development
- Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form
- Ability to focus and maintain attention to the performance of tasks despite periods of interruptions
- Ability to work and complete assignments on time despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical, or unusual interruptions
- Ability to maintain good relations with staff and guests
- Ability to memorize, recollect and quickly retrieve dates, names, times and other data
- Ability to converse calmly with irate guests, superiors, and subordinates in sometimes intense emotional situations
- Must be able to convey positive image of self and hotel
- Knowledge and ability to maintain state and federal health code standards
- Must be able to understand and comply with safety precautions in use of chemicals
Required Education and Experience
- High school or equivalent education required
- A minimum of 3 years specialized experience in specified trade
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
