Location:  Miami Area Command, Miami, FL

Position Type: Full-Time at 35 hrs/wk

Pay Range:  $17.50/hr

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for planning and providing activities and child-care services for children participating in the Summer Day Camp Program; planning, developing, and facilitating recreational activities and play time; preparing and maintaining program records; maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of Corps property.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Facilitates activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age-appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.
  • Determines appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.
  • Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.
  • Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
  • Exhibits control of the children and when needed displays proper discipline techniques.
  • Maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials necessary for programs.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
  • Reports all accidents to the supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists in class learning to support Music Teachers.

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or GED

OR

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
