About this opportunity:
Plans, coordinates, manages, evaluates, and participates in the technology operations, services, and support for a metro Area Command facilities and remote sites to include computer hardware, software, networks, systems, servers, telephony equipment an VoIP systems, and security/camera systems as well as compliance with established Territorial policies and procedures. Plans and performs installation of new hardware and software technologies. Implements and supports network-based applications. Serves as technical liaison to Divisional IT staff; recommends technology changes to improve system’s operational performance. Schedules, coordinates, and leads training classes in methods and procedures; provides individual end-user training. Supervises subordinate technical and administrative staff as needed. Manages the IT budget and purchasing functions and reviews various technology invoicing for accuracy for the Area Command.
Key responsibilities:
- Plans, coordinates, manages, evaluates, and participates in the day-to-day technology of operations and services provided by the Area Command; maintains the data integrity while assuring equipment and systems are functioning at optimum performance levels.
- Serves as liaison between the Area Command and Divisional Headquarters IT staff; ensures the Business Manager II is kept abreast of IT operations; establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with the Divisional Headquarters IT staff. Reports operational issues, and recommendations in a timely manner; receives input and feedback from the Divisional IT Director regarding compliance with Territorial IT standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develops and manages Area Command IT projects in conjunction with the Territorial IT Department and Divisional IT Department, including roll-out of Salvation Army appliances, establishment of new computer networks and services and system-wide network maintenance and upgrades.
- Reviews all incoming work order requests to assess need and prioritize work assignments.
- Serves as representative of the Corps in dealings with technology and/or service vendors; monitors the work performed by the technology and/or service vendors to ensure that technology problems are quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
- Travels throughout Area Command facilities and remote sites to provide technology support; troubleshoots business computers, printers, scanners, network equipment, and security/camera equipment; research published data pertinent to problems; interacts with vendors to resolve technical support problems as needed.
- Maintains operational documentation such as cable layouts, user charts and system manuals; maintains performance logs including System Event and Security Event logs.
- Develop technical proposals, in requisition format, for the purchase of new or expanded computer equipment, related peripherals, data communications equipment, telephone or other data processing services, presenting them to the requesting entity.
- Manages the installation of new releases of the operating system as received by the Territorial Headquarters Information Technology Department, and application software performing necessary configuration procedures to customize the software application.
- Attend annual IT-related conferences, seminars and workshops that enhance skills and performance (e.g. Territorial Information Technology Department training conference).
- Provides instructional training materials. Coordinates classes, schedules personnel, and prepares equipment for presentations. Installs data or electrical cable lines which may be needed for site training presentations. Maintains training records and training attendance logs.
What are we looking for in you:
- High School diploma or G.E.D., and
- Two years of IT related technical school, and one more relevant technical certification required, and
- Five years’ experience in servicing computers, peripherals, and applications
- Experience in Microsoft Windows operating systems, networking support and administration, assessing technology resources, and acquisition of technical information, software drivers, and software updates are required.
- Experience in with layer 2 and 3 switches, configuration, and administration is desired, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid State Driver’s License
- A+ Certification is desired
- Microsoft Certified System Engineer Certification(s) desired
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like but not limited to the office environment.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 pounds) 5-10% of work time.
