Job Summary

Loads and unloads the baler in compliance with all applicable established policies and procedures. Ensures the safe operation of the baler. Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area. Loads and unloads designated materials in the baler in compliance with all established policies and procedures; responsible for the overall safe operation of the baler. Keeps a record of the numbers and weights of bales on appropriate forms and processes those forms in accordance with established policies and procedures. Inspects the baler on a daily basis to ensure that it is operating correctly and bringing any potential operating problems to management’s attention. Ensures the baler is properly secured at the end of the day in accordance with standard operating procedures. Maintains an adequate supply of baling wire and other essential supplies for the proper operation of the baler. Maintains the baler area in a neat and orderly manner; keeps the surrounding floor and work area clean.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to safely operate the baler within established policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred and experience working in a warehouse and with heavy duty equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Licenses and Certifications

None.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to successfully and effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in the English language. Ability to understand established policies and procedures related to the safe operation of the baler and/or forklift.

Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies frequently. Ability to push or pull heavy (50-100 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies occasionally. Work requires continued walking, sitting, twisting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and some climbing.

Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and other similar issues.
