Fitness & Athletic Attendant
Location: The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Norfolk, VA)
Position Type: Casual
Pay Range: $12.41 - $15.77
About this opportunity:
Attends to the needs of members in the fitness/exercise room; ensures the safe use of the facilities by assisting patrons with the equipment and making appropriate recommendations regarding fitness routines.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintains the cleanliness of facility by cleaning equipment and training areas, vacuuming, wiping down equipment, cleaning mirrors & glass, and re-racking free weights.
- Offers regular weight room orientation/instructional sessions to the members at various times throughout the day to adequately respond to the novice lifter.
- Ensures the safe use of the facility by enforcement of facility regulations and ensuring that authorized patrons use the facility.
- Reports all equipment and fitness area problems to the Fitness Coordinator; notifies members and staff when machines are out of working order or in need of repair.
- Meets all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army.
- Oversees intern workers; monitors progress; weekly documents success.
- Perform other assignments/duties as directed.
What we are looking for in you:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language and do basic math.
Ability to demonstrate good physical condition and effort associated with walking, running, standing, and moderate-to-advanced weight lifting in a fitness center environment including the ability to meet the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs.
