About this opportunity:

 

Coordinates and implements the Kentucky/Tennessee Division’s Long-Term Recovery (LTR) Program(s) under the provisions of funding agreements. Serves as the local point of contact for The Salvation Army with disaster case management and other funding agencies. Consults with and provides technical assistance to local Salvation Army staff.

Provides comprehensive, long-term, structured case funding services. Develops comprehensive case funding partnerships to maintain or recover permanent housing or other unidentified unmet needs for disaster survivors within program limitations. Serves as the primary representative across all agencies, serving as a central point of contact for all Divisional Long-Term Recovery Programs (s). Monitors and reports on the progress of case funding services, ensuring constant compliance with funding requirements and reporting schedule.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Develops a thorough understanding of funding agreements, programs, and budgetary expectations, assists in determining what needs to be accomplished to fully implement Long-Term Recovery in compliance with funding agreements, plans, and coordinates program implementation at the divisional level.

 

  • Serves as the local liaison between The Salvation Army and all disaster case management and other funding agencies.

 

  • Ensures case presentations and check requests from recovery case management specialists are accurate and within funding compliance, reviews requests for funding according to The Salvation Army’s procedures and the funding agreements.

 

  • Regularly attends Long-Term Recovery Unmet Needs meetings throughout impacted and/or federally declared counties. Regularly reviews and monitors the overall Long Term Recovery program budget and compares expenditures to the budget.

 

  • Prepares and submits consolidated program and fiscal reports to Divisional Headquarters, as required; ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information reported to maintain compliance with funding requirements.

 

  • Deploys to other Command or General Staff positions as needed for disaster services support; deploys to other Divisions as requested by Territorial Headquarters (THQ). 

What we are looking for in you:

 

  • A degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Emergency Management or a related field is required, and Five years of progressively responsible emergency management, social services, or related field experience at the project or agency level or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of emergency management and/or social service administration, specifically in developing and administering day-to-day operations of case management funding services.

 

  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment with limited supervision.

 

  • Ability to remain open, sensitive and responsive to clients and volunteers from diverse cultures without discrimination including ability to respect, protect, access, and nurture the psychosocial well-being of clients experiencing despair due to loss of home, family, community, income, benefits and/or psychosocial trauma as a direct result of a tragedy.

 

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

 

Work requires travel throughout Kentucky and Tennessee to attend meetings or conduct training or presentations, where there may be physical discomforts associated with driving a vehicle, traveling by airplane, changes in the weather, and staying overnight in a hotel.
