Youth Center Executive Director

About this opportunity:
The Salvation Army is currently looking for a new Executive Director to positively impact the youth in Alamance County and continue in our mission of “Doing The Most Good” within our community. This position is responsible for directing and managing overall daily operations at The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center with the primary concern for a comprehensive and outcome-driven program.
Key responsibilities:
- Advises and assists the Branch Manager in the areas of volunteer recruitment and management, Advisory Organizational Development, facility management, personnel issues, budget development, and program development.
- Provides programs in accordance with and to advance the mission and goals of the organization.
- Provides leadership, direction and support to the Corps Officer/Business Manager in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies.
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business, education, accounting, or social services
and
- Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in the management, administration and operation of youth programming, with a track record of at least two years in a leadership capacity of a site with a budget of $500,000 to $1.5M.
or
- Seven (7) years’ experience working in a similar youth-service organization,
or
- any equivalent combination of education/experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL Required)
- Basic First Aid and CPR Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing including the provision of clear instructions to employees.
- Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.
- Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation.
- Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality.
- Ability to drive a vehicle for extended trips.
- Combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
- Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.
- Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
- Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
